The Semester-in-London Program is a long-running study abroad program open to all students, regardless of major, and is designed particularly for those with a strong interest in literature, theatre, and art. Two English Department faculty members present the program's four core courses, which are especially designed to take advantage of the London setting and the accessibility of nearby UK destinations. Additional courses in art history and theatre, taught by British faculty, draw on the resources of the major London museums and the London theatre scene. Courses meet in the Florida State University Study Centre, a handsome historic building one block from the British Museum. Binghamton courses meet Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, allowing long weekends for group trips and independent exploration. This spring, students will also be able to cross-register for courses offered through Florida State University; however, these courses may not adhere to the Tuesday through Thursday schedule. The Program has always welcomed participation by students from colleges and universities other than Binghamton. Students on the program live with other program participants in flats near the Florida State University Study Centre. This exciting neighborhood, filled with lovely parks, shopping and restaurants, and in walking distance to most of London's sights, is a wonderful place from which to explore the city. |
